100 miles per gallon, how about it?

I read an interesting article about what it would take to make a car do 100 miles per gallon ( ~42km per litre), which would be seriously cool.

I would quite like to buy an old mini or something, and make it really efficient. I would probably start by doing some hardout weight reduction on it, then maybe converting it into a hybrid. Eventually I would like to make a carbon-fibre shell for it instead of the steel bodywork.

Oh well, I can always dream...
